LARK Quartet: Now & Then: A Celebration of 30 Years
Weill Recital Hall, Monday, May 1, 2017 | 8 PM
This concert celebrates the past and present of The LARK Quartet through music old and new and members original and present. In keeping with the tradition of LARK to broaden the chamber music repertory through diverse commissions, they perform both the world premiere of Andrew Waggoner’s Octet and the New York premiere of John Harbison’s String Quartet No. 6. To contrast the ‘Now’, they move back in time to Debussy’s String Quartet and the Presto of Mendelssohn’s Octet.

CD REVIEWS FOR COMPOSING AMERICA
“Impressive… Breathtaking… Brilliant…”
“The recording’s three-dimensional reality, captured at SUNY Purchase’s Performing Arts Center, sounds so magnificent that the whole musical experience actually matches the florid imagination of Andrew Waggoner’s booklet-note.”
– Laurence Vittes (Gramophone Magazine)
“Composing America is an ambitious title, but the Lark Quartet lives up to it with an ambitious and diverse selection of American sounds.”
“Those who know the superb Lark Quartet will expect a total success, and they will be rewarded… These four women are at the forefront of composing America, and of performing it.”
